Amazing quality

Miles better than the reeds that came packaged with my instrument! One of the two reeds that I ordered is slightly better than the other, but even that one is leagues better than the one I had before, 100% would buy again

Subscription reed

I'm very glad I discovered the KGE US oboe reed. As someone who learned to play the oboe in the US, this reed has a familiar feel and sound production. I occasionally need to shave them down a bit, but they're otherwise dependable and well balanced.

Consistent quality and great response

These are better than the reeds I can get in North America!

Worth the wait for the best

These reeds are truly the best in the world. We are always grateful to the people who make these for us. The sound quality and playability are second to none!

USA Reed Rails

The reed has a little too much taken out of the "rails" (the sides/edges of the reed), so it is not as sturdy. Other than that, it is good.

Great Reed

My son is an intermediate level oboe player. We had been struggling to find a good reed brand and he had a competition coming up. So I ordered from a variety of top reviewed reed makers. This one was the reed that he selected for his performance! Hit the high and low notes spot on - when it mattered.

Variable quality

I recently purchased two of these reeds to trial. One was of reasonable quality, though no substitute for a handmade reed and not an ideal match on a pitch front for my set up. The other was completely unplayable. Even after considerable adjustment the opening remained far too large and the overall effect was unresponsive.

A little on the hard side

A very well made quality reed. But I would have called it medium hard, rather than medium.

Very hard/resistant

I usually play on European scrape oboe reeds however I was keen to try an American style scrape as I had been told they are generally much more free blowing if requiring a different embouchure/control. This reed seemed extremely resistant and difficult to blow to get a sound out of. However it seemed very well made and robust enough that sufficient scraping would potentially get it where it needed to be.
