Rigotti JLE Bassoon Cane: Gouged, Profiled & Shaped (per 10, Jean-Louis Estier)

I use this cane for my reed making classes because the kids get great result. Many are playing on their own reeds, up to NYO and Conservatoire entrance level.

I bought this cane profiled and shaped, and the shaper was not symmetrical, because when I folded the reed, the tube ends did not meet, but overlapped. This really messed up the crushing and rounding process, and the cane basically disintegrated. The tube formed awfully. This cane is to soft form my reed making technique. I'm stuck with 9 more pieces, hopefully at least a few will work for me. But I am hesitant to use more supplies and put in the time if the cane is just plain bad to begin with. So it was too soft, and it was not
